Accredited Caterer Application
Hylands Estate is a prestigious Grade II* listed public park encompassing 574 acres of historic parkland. The beautifully renovated Grade II* listed Neo-Classical elegant villa Hylands House, together with our Grand Pavilion, can be hired for any occasion including weddings, private celebrations, proms, business meetings and conferences. We provide a stunning location for filming with past shoots including the Netflix production of The Crown and BBC’s drama, Killing Eve. Hylands House has also featured as a backdrop for many commerical photoshoots.
We host seasonal indoor and outdoor events and Hylands House is open once a month to the public where we provide historical tours and exhibitions. Nationally we are renowned for notable national events such as The National Flower Show and for being a music festival location for example V festival and new for 2022, Creamfields.
In 1966, with the House in a desperate state of disrepair, Chelmsford Borough Council purchased the Park ‘for the people of Chelmsford to enjoy’. Hylands Park was opened to the public only 10 days later and has been enjoyed as a public open space ever since. It was agreed by Chelmsford Borough Council that Hylands House should be restored to its former glory and having stood empty for 20 years, the first phase of restoration took place in 1986. The final stage was completed 19 years later in 2005. Hylands House is still owned by Chelmsford City Council today.
The commerical hire business at Hylands House has grown substantially in the past few years, and despite the setback of the Covid Pandemic, we have every confidence that business will return and continue to grow. For 2022, the venue is already experiencing a record number of wedding bookings.
With the increase in business, comes with increased impact of events on our historic house and the Grand Pavilion. The venue is currently operating as a dry hire only venue where the hirer can appoint their own suppliers if they provide the health and safety documentation required. Due to the increased volume of events and different suppliers in our building, our team are now having to manage more suppliers than ever. This has caused an increase in damages, cleaning problems and an inconsistent service to both our clients and our venue. We have therefore made the decision to create an accredited suppliers list for caterers which will help ease these issues and improve the service we give to our clients.
Why become an accredited caterer for Hylands Estate?
We see our list of accredited caterers becoming an extension of our team as we build closer relationships with a reduced number of suppliers. By having a smaller list of caterers will create more opportunities for your company to work at our venue. We will be able to promote your company on our website, our social media channels, and for every client that enquiries with us, they will receive a copy of our list of caterers.
We want to offer our clients a variety of styles and cuisines and we would like to form working relationships with Asian, African & Carribbean, Modern European, Kosher, Turkish, Greek caterers and street food vendors.
