DESCRIPTION:This 4 week course runs Saturdays from 26 September to 1 October.  It’s suitable for beginners and those wanting to refresh their sewing skills. \nIn these 2 hour workshops you will learn how to use your sewing machine’s functions to make a different item each week. \n\nWeek 1: Cushion – learn to use a pattern while creating your own cushion.\nWeek 2: Tote Bag – we will look at measurements and different construction techniques while making your tote bag.\nWeek 3: Cosmetic Bag – this week you will learn how to attach zips and birth your cosmetic bag.\nWeek 4: Apron/bunting – We will use thicker fabrics and learn different sewing techniques while sewing our aprons/bunting.\n\nSue will contact you once you have booked to discuss fabric requirements for each week of the course. \nAll groups are kept small with a maximum of 4 people and take place within Sue’s cosy studio within the grounds of Hylands Estate. \nCakes and drinks provided. \nParking charges at Hylands Estate and a 20% discount at The Deli is included in the cost of the workshop.

SUMMARY:Beginners' Stained Glass Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Spend a fun day learning a new skill and creating your own stained glass project with Hylands Artist Mona Marnell. The day runs from 10.00am to 5.00pm and starts with Mona teaching you how to cut glass safely. Then\, having picked your pattern and the glass you want to use\, Mona will guide you through the cutting\, copper-foiling and soldering processes so by the end of the day you have made a beautiful stained glass creation. \nLunch is not provided\, but across the courtyard we have The Deli café which offers workshop attendees a 20% discount \nPlease wear old clothes or bring an apron as working with glass is fun but messy. \nYou won’t have to pay for parking as you are attending a workshop. Just come straight to the studio on the day with your car registration and Mona will get you put on the system for free. \nPlease Note: Stained glass is a traditional craft. You will be handling and cutting glass as well as using glass grinders. After applying copperfoil to all your glass pieces you will use a soldering iron\, liquid flux and solder to join the pieces together. Mona will provide latex gloves to prevent you touching the flux and solder.
